This is a 1979 Flatiron 2M mandolin.
Pre-Gibson. (Gibson bought them out in the mid 80s to control the competition. In the late 90s, they moved production to Nashville where quality fell off. Then they discontinued them in 2000s).
You can tell this is an early 79 because they didn't put a logo on the headstock. (It's said that they couldn't agree on a design so they shipped them without one.)
This specific mandolin has signs of age and wear. It's not a creampuff but it is a survivor. It's got wear and tear appropriate to age. And the nitro is cracked by the neck. (Shown in pic). But the cracks are just the nitro. Not the body.
It's had some repairs. (The neck has been reset and a crack in the top has been glued and reinforced. )
This is not the original bridge and 4 of the tuner ferrules have been replaced.
Play as is or restore. These are known and sought after for their sweet tone and playability.
Will ship to the Continental US.
