Early 1980s USA Fender Bullet 1. Serial number would suggest 1981, but neck stamp says 1983 (clearly parts were getting mixed around toward the end of the USA run at Fullerton). This model was the answer to the recently discontinued Mustang/Musicmaster line of student electrics, and was soon shipped overseas. IMO, the USA Bullets offer some nice features: 1) full scale, 2) four-bolt Tele neck, 3) simple and fool-proof electronics. This is the initial version, with the metal pickguard and non-body-through string feeding. I think this version evokes the uber-cool 1950s Duo-sonics, but the string-thru-body design of the Bullet 2 is easier for set-ups. I’m not a huge fan of six separate saddles, although I’ve got this one set up nicely. BTW, I have inserted (removable) spacers onto the unwound-string saddle bolts to increase spring tension and bridge stability under heavy attack. Guitar is very clean throughout, although it took one clunk on the fretboard at the low-E side of the fretboard. The dent is less severe than the pics make it appear, and it is 100% out of the way of your fretting fingers if you’re right-handed. If you wanted to play lefty, or if you fret the low E with your thumb from over the top, you might want to have it smoothed out. Just perceptible extra neck relief out over the body, but all fretting is clean and big bends are smooth. Frets are in good shape throughout. Comes in a non-original but Fender gig-bag. These USA Bullets look like the last batch of affordable vintage Fender electrics…
