Correction: Originally described as having a VTS top, I recently learned that VTS conditioning only began in 2015, and this guitar was built early in 2013, serial # suggests first week of April, perhaps one of the first D-28A 1931s built by Martin, so no VTS. Conditioning has been achieved by having been played and the sound quality receives extensive compliments from other musicians.
The D-28 Authentic 1931 features Adirondack natural Spruce top, Madagascar Rosewood sides, and Madagascar Rosewood back.
Only total of 170 of these meticulously crafted replicas were made when Martin's annual production exceeded 80,000 guitars. It's a slothead, 12 fret neck guitar with a wider fretboard, correct for the period, that affords easier fingerpicking. Fret markers on the neck were added by Martin's certified SF Bay Area luthiers at Wood St. Guitar, (compensating for visual impairment). It's a beautifully balanced guitar with everything you'd expect from a Martin dreadnaught, plus that extra that comes with the larger body a 12 fret neck offers.. Factory hardshell case is included
Martin has extensive detailed specs available listed under "retired guitars".
