K5000R is the rackmount version of Kawai’s flagship K5000S offering one of the most powerful implementations of additive synthesis ever put into hardware. 

Featuring 32-voice polyphony with up to 128 harmonics per voice, the K5000R allows for stunningly rich, evolving textures, crystalline pads, and harmonically complex timbres that go far beyond traditional subtractive synthesis.

The K5000 was Kawai's top of the line music workstation digital synthesizer when it was released back in 1996. In 1997 a rack-module version was released. 

The rack version runs the more stable OS 3.0 software. The latest is 4.03 and is free to upgrade via download from Kawai. The rack version offers all the same power and flexibility as its keyboard counterparts.

It combines additive synthesis and PCM sampled waveforms layering and combing to design a whole range of sounds. Plenty of LFO modulation, filters and envelope controls allow you to shape and morph your sounds further. On-board multi-effects add the final touch of life to the sounds.

This module is a 64-part multitimbral unit, with 32MB of internal waveform ROM, combining additive synthesis with PCM samples for hybrid sounds. Each voice includes multiple envelopes, LFOs, and formant filters, giving deep modulation capabilities and a distinctively lush, digital character.

The K5000R includes MIDI In, Out, Thru, as well as two assignable stereo audio outputs. While editing from the front panel is possible, the full depth of programming is best accessed via software or an external controller due to its deep architecture.

Highly sought after for its rare sonic palette, the K5000R is a favorite among experimental producers, sound designers, and electronic musicians looking for something truly unique and inspiring.
