Original 8x8" photo print of a charred Les Paul guitar discovered in a ravine in the San Gabriel Mountains.

After the huge 2016 Sand Fire near our home, I hiked a ravine near Santa Clarita that had previously been impassably overgrown for decades & discovered this Les Paul guitar. Above the ravine is a winding mountain road. It appears that over the years thieves had tossed the remains of their booty over the edge, where it remained hidden in dense undergrowth until the fire. I also found multiple blown safes and newspaper vending boxes (pried open for the quarters within). I later found the remains of the Les Paul neck nearby. The ravine has long since grown over again & the Les Paul is once again lost for decades.

I'm a bassist, but my best guess is that this guitar is a 1970s or '80s "lawsuit" Japanese copy. Appeared to be a bolt-on neck & solid wood (not ply/laminate). Thieves likely discarded it having realized it wasn't a valuable Gibson.
