I am offering a PRS Wood Library Custom 24 10 Quilt Top 30th Anniversary from 2015, a handcrafted in Stevensville, Maryland (USA) luxury version of the Custom 24 as a Wood Library anniversary edition with a flamed mahogany body (only 3.4 kg total weight!), wildly figured 10-top quilted maple maple top, set-in “Artist Grade” flame maple neck with satin finish and Pattern Thin neck profile, beautiful ziricote fingerboard with 30th Anniversary Birds mother-of-pearl inlays and special binding, two versatile-hot PRS 85/15 humbucker pickups, high-quality PRS USA tremolo bridge, and PRS Phase III locking tuners in a beautifully grained burnt maple leaf high-gloss finish with hybrid hardware in mint collector's condition, including black PRS luxury hardshell case, all manufacturer's papers, and professional setup with 10-gauge Elixir strings.
This PRS Wood Library option, made to mark the 30th anniversary of the Custom 24, is a dream instrument in every respect: perfect workmanship, breathtaking looks, outstanding playability, and a characterful sound are the hallmarks of this guitar.
The basis is formed by selected woods from the PRS Wood Library program. Similar to the Private Stock category, models can be customized independently of the wood combinations typically used for a particular model.
This Custom 24 features a hand-selected mahogany body, which at 3.4kg remains an absolute lightweight and even shows a slight flame. Combined with a richly figured 10-top quilted maple top, which is perfectly highlighted by the striking burnt maple leaf high-gloss finish, and a set-in flame maple neck with standing annual rings in “Artist Grade” quality. As such, the guitar offers a welcome visual and sonic alternative to standard mahogany, which already gives the guitar great acoustic resonance and amplifies an extremely clear, sparkling tone.
The two PRS USA 85/15 humbuckers characterize its versatile application possibilities and consistently optimal sound development. The dynamic range of the pickups invites expressive sounds and puts complete control over response and volume in the hands of the player. Both pickups are controlled by a 5-way switch, which also offers stripped-down single-coil-like sound options (coil tap) in the intermediate positions.
A sound sample of the model (only in a different color finish and not as a Wood Library option) can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
The playing experience is simply delightful thanks to the Pattern Thin neck profile with satin finish, the elegant ziricote fingerboard with a 10" radius, and the 42.9mm nut width.
