Couesnon Selmer style gypsy guitar made in the Mirecourt region of Paris, probably in the 1940's. The guitars of this style sport the distinctive large bound f-holes above the bridge, close to the fingerboard. This one has the attractive sunburst finish on both the top, back and sides. The top has a 4-ply binding and the back has single ply binding. Typically, the back and side could be Cuban Mahogany, the top Spruce and the neck Beech.
The guitar has the original tuners. The bridge is a replacement and the guitar has a DR tail piece with and Ebony insert. The guitar has recently emerged from Kerry Char's shop with some crack repairs to the sides, a neck set and a complete refret. The neck profile is a slim D shape, traditional of gypsy instruments. The guitar comes with a soft gig bag.
The scale length is 25 3/4"
The string height at the 12th fret is
4 mm bass
3 mm treble
45 mm nut width
