RARE MASTERPIECE FOR A SERIOUS PERFORMER

PERFECT for a classical instrumentalist or accompaniment for a singer, this rare, gorgeous, light weight, nylon string classical guitar will enhance and highlight such classical works from Jose Feliciano to Andre Segovia, or beautifully provide the most warming support for singers of all sorts of genres with its resounding, rich, mellow tone. When you play this for the first time you will be blown away, and will want to play it for the rest of your life. Its magical resonance will warm your torso and sooth your heart. It comes with its own hard case, and a few extras: two rare songbooks – The Complete Joan Baez songbook signed by Joan herself, and The Songs of Leonard Cohen. Both in very good condition, and hard to come by.

This guitar is a work at the highest of arts, built especially for me as a one-of-a-kind instrument by famous master guitar luthier John McMahan from Carmel, CA in 1978, its rare composition is made up of the following woods: The top of the body is German Spruce, its side panels and back are Brazilian Cherry Wood, the neck and head stock are Mahogany, its fret board is Ebony, and its tuners are mother of pearl. The guitar is decorated tastefully with actual inlayed mother of pearl in lovely designs around the sound hole, at the bottom of the guitar at the end pin for a shoulder strap knob, a ¼” MOP strip down the center of the back, and MOP on its bridge. You will never see or play another guitar like this one. It measures from the top of the headstock to the bottom 38 1/2 " in length, 14 1/2" wide, and 3 3/4" deep. It weighs 3lbs, 8Oz.

Luthiers and guitar shop owners have appraised it from $7,000 to $10,000. Since I’m in my 70s now and can no longer play it, I must let it go. I am lowering the price to $6,000 to insure it is affordable to the right person. The price I am selling it for alone would not even cover the materials it’s made of, if you could even find them. The number of photos provided will convince you of its authenticity and quality. There will be no return, and its sale will be final. I want to be sure that the person who buys this wonderful instrument is a serious enough musician to appreciate its value and care for it as I have all these years. Its only flaws are a tiny ding on the top, shown in one of the photos. A hairline crack has been repaired and reinforced on the inside, in the top, at the lower edge of the bridge. There is also a small dimple in the finish on the back, where curling of the lacquer was sanded out. My husband happens to be a professional luthier and has taken care of my guitar with his expertise and skill.

Luthier's notes: In my 15 years repairing guitars, I haven't played a classical that was as well built, as stunning in appearance, as easy to play (smooth fret ends, low action for a classical) or had great volume and tone as this one.
