Legendary Electric Delivers Vintage Tone and Feel
Get that one-of-a-kind tone with the Danelectro '56 U2. The '56 U2 is a legend in a long line of Danelectro hollowbodies, dating back to its original run from 1956 to 1958. The U2 is constructed from a hardboard/plywood body that is lightweight and delivers a signature midrange tone. In addition, a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard offers wonderful playability and response. And when you plug in, two Lipstick single-coil passive pickups bring that vintage tone.
One-of-a-kind pickups
When it first appeared in '56, the U2 made a big impression for its use of twin Lipstick pickups wired in series rather than in parallel. With its coil wrapped around an Alnico magnet and then wrapped in tape, these pickups harken back to the vintage tone of rock's earliest days. The result is a tone that truly stands alone — jangly, midrange punch and treble kick. This unique sound and the playability of the U2 have won over numerous legends in rock, including Ronnie Wood, Steve Perry, and Mark Knopfler. It has also made the U2 a much sought-after axe in the world of surf rock. And with a 3-way pickup selector and stacked control layout, the '56 U2 gives you lots of options for dialing in your tone.

This guitar is in Very-Good "Player Grade" condition, showing signs of moderate-yet-careful playwear and careful storage. There are numerous "buffed up" areas and "hazy" areas in the satin finish. There are areas of finish wear-though in the elbow area on the body and also along the top edge of the reverse of the neck from frets 1-5. The edge tape has yellowed slightly with age. There are small dents around the headstock and on the body edges. The chrome finish on the tuning machines, pickup covers, and bridge plate shows some noticeable tarnish. This guitar has been inspected by our expert tech. This package includes a gig bag. This guitar is being sold AS-IS.
