Just took this one in on trade, really cool acoustic, we haven't seen many of these! Pro set up and plays and sounds incredible! Gig bag included. This one has been played so has typical play wear for an almost 40 year old guitar. Sold as is.
Here is what we can find on this particular guitar...
The story goes that in the mid 80s, when Gibson launched the line, Nouveau necks and bodies were made in Japan and then were then sent to be assembled and finished in Nashville. This first batch of Nouveaus was branded as Gibsons. Shortly after the launch (most likely due to economic reasons), Gibson shifted the production entirely to Japan and then offered the Nouveau line as Epiphones. They were discontinued in 1989. (Much of this info comes from Gibson and "Gruhn's Guide To Vintage Guitars".) But the NV12 story continues. The Gibson version of the NV12 was said to have been special order only and (potentially) “100% made in Nashville,” if you believe a few Nouveau collectors out there. I cannot verify this information.
