So I planned on never selling this set, but I am moving and need to downsize my collection and have been having some tough decisions. I have had this set for 15? years and absolutely love it.

This pair obviously wasn't made to go together originally. But they are the same size, and they are both absolutely great at what they do.

Quad Model 34 Preamp - This is a great preamp. It is extremely British so yes, it has a certain vibe to it, a certain coloration to it and very odd controls. But if you love the sound of classic British hifi gear (this would be me) it sounds fantstic. The tone controls are very unique. There is the Bass lift / step control that works like a Baxendall style bass boost knob, moving the bandwidth upwards as the level is turned up. The Tilt control does sort of what it seems like it would do, changing the wave of EQ curves around a pivot point. It is fitted with the MM Phono stage, I never received the MC one but I've always used it with a transformer.

It's in very very good shape and is working flawlessly. There is the occaisional dirty spot in a potentiometer after the years, but never a persistant one.

Quad 909 - This is a fantastic amplifier. This little brick (both of these are only 12" wide) is suprisingly powerful and very very sophisticated. IT puts out 140WPC @ 8 ohms, closer to 200WPC @ 4 ohms. It was showered with praise upon it's relief for having a ton of midrange detail and a very pleasant tone. I've found it to be just that. It is a very smooth running, powerful little amplifier that just performs very very well.

This is the original version and while I never owned the 99 series preamp it was made to sell with, It has always paired flawlessly with the model 34 preamp, and better yet, it is massively more powerful than (and honestly just as sweet soundung) the 306 power amp it was made to partner with.

Anyway, like I said, I kind of thought I'd keep these for life, but I am at least going to attempt to sell them. Please feel free and send me an offer or discuss, I just want them to go somewhere cool.

I will of course pack them very very well, and fully seal and insure them
