The Aslin Dane “Icosa ” is a thin line acoustic only 1-7/8” (47mm) thick at the side.

The construction is quite unique. The back of the guitar is made of one block of Mahogany which is completely hollowed out, so the back and sides are essentially one. The top of the guitar is solid Spruce. The rosette is made of Rosewood which is inlayed directly into the top. The custom carved spruce braces are arranged in our own X bracing pattern.

The Spruce top dome is 33 foot. larger than you would find on most acoustics in order for us to get the most movement from such a thin sided acoustic instrument. In order to perfectly mate the dome of the Spruce top plate to the side top rim (side mating surface) we CNC the side bearing edge to give us a perfect mating surface of the side to the top plate.

In practice these complex multi radial surfaces cannot be accomplished by hand. Other than this one process the entire instrument is completely built by hand. The Bridge is made of Rosewood with a compensated graphite polymer saddle. A piezo transducer is installed under the saddle to drive the active preamplifier. The controls offer one volume control, a center notched tone control and a center notched Bass control. This preamp allows for a diverse array of tonal sounds. The preamp requires one 9 volt battery. The battery compartment is recessed into the back cover for convenient and easy access.

The neck utilizes a Bone nut and is made of one piece of mahogany sliced then scarf jointed at the headstock. This is done to strengthen the neck under the nut area which is the thinnest part of the neck.

The 25-1/2” scale length Rosewood fingerboard has 22 hardened nickel silver frets and is fitted with Elliptical pearloid position markers. The neck/body joint used is a double reinforcement bars and tenon and mortised joint. We have included a two-way truss rod system which can be accessed from the headstock. The Machine heads are gold plated Grover Diecast 102 with black buttons.
