GUYATONE LG-55W 1960s SUNBURST *CLEARANCE*

First produced in the early 60s to capitalise on the big guitar boom. In the event the models LG-55 (Single pickup), LG-55W (double pickup) and LG-65T (w/tremolo) became Guyatone's best selling guitars ever.

Nowadays, the LG-55W is undoubtedly the rarest of the trio.

This one hails from around 1964-65 and is in all-original condition complete with its cool little bridge cover.

These so-called entry-level Guyatones or 'student' guitars are just so much better than that tag suggests. The modest appearance and original modest price tag belie the quality under the hood. 

The floating plastic bridge (which offered no intonation adjustment) is now fixed. This is a vast improvement and is a common mod on this model.

Of course it's much more convenient for string changes and keeps the intonation solid as well as offering adjustment options via the base plate screw slot positioning.

We just had our tech give it a full set up so intonation, neck angle and action are all spot on.

Overall, this is a lovely little guitar which performs miles above its pay grade. Plus it's seriously enjoyable to play.

The Japan post office service (EMS) is reliable and efficient but shipping costs from Japan to Europe or the states are unavoidably expensive.

Shipping by air plus climatic changes can affect how a guitar is set up - no matter how well it is packed. Consequently there is no guarantee that an instrument arrives with exactly the same set up as stated. After a period of acclimatisation, you may still need to make any adjustments at your own expense.
