It looks like this drum was professionally re-finished. A later model Slingerland internal muffler was installed right next to the badge. Not sure why they put it there? Everything about the drum looks excellent. No issues. This snare drum sounds great. Super warm tone with great articulation.
The Hollywood Ace model became a favorite for its warm, woody tone and sensitive response.
3-ply mahogany/poplar/mahogany shell with solid maple reinforcing rings, 8 Sound King "beavertail" lugs, triple-flanged stick saver hoops, updated Puresound wires. New heads top and bottom.
