The JP20 features a full-sized, single cutaway, full hollow body design with an arched spruce top with ƒ holes and multi-layer binding on maple back and sides mated to a set-in three-piece maple neck with a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with binding and pearl and abalone split block position markers. Components include a single Ibanez Super 58 humbucking pickup with a gold cover mounted in a black pickup ring between the neck and bridge; a height-adjustable ebony bridge with ebony tailpiece; a bone nut; a tortoise pickguard; Sure Grip knobs; Ibanez "boomerang" strap buttons: and VelveTune tuning machines with pearloid acrylic buttons. This guitar is one of the first examples and is signed by Joe Pass. It is in excellent condition and plays and sounds fantastic! One of the complaints about this model is that the sound is rather "thin" because of the pickup position. A previous owner solved that problem by adding a blend pot. A blend pot allows you to mix the two coils of a humbucking pickup without a switch, offering a more nuanced sound. Only noticeable blemish is a screw hole on the neck heel where a previous owner installed a strap button. It has since been removed. Includes the original hardshell case.
