The PreSonus R80 is an active two-way studio monitor with an 8-inch woven Kevlar woofer and a folded-ribbon Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter. The AMT design gives it a noticeably wide stereo image and a detailed high-frequency presentation, while the controlled vertical dispersion helps reduce reflections from desks and ceilings. It includes onboard room-adjustment controls for boundary compensation and high-frequency tailoring, along with XLR, TRS, and RCA inputs.
Compared with many similarly priced monitors, the R80 is known for a more open top end and less fatiguing sound than typical dome-tweeter designs. Ribbon tweeters also offer excellent reproduction of transients.
