This synth voice module is an excellent, cost-effective alternative to purchasing individual modules while providing the functionality, versatility, sound quality, and precision of Cwejman. Purchasing individual modules would most likely cost significantly more. And the SM-1 pre-wired connectivity and normalizations simplify patching, making it much easier to remake a patch.

SM-1 Synthesizer module Our modular synthesizers are produced with the same build- and sound quality as the S1 MK2. The format of modules is standardized for Eurorack and to the recognized standard for modular systems on the market. The philosophy behind our products is to offer ergonomic and dispositional modules; all functions as knobs and switches are arranged above patch points. This means that all connecting patch cables are away from knobs and switches. The electronics behind the panel is assembled with the surface mounted devices which make it possible to "squeeze" advanced electronics on the small surface. The printed circuits is attached directly to the front panels by vertical standing potentiometers, patch sockets and with no connecting wires. Electronics behind the front panel is only 20mm deep. The front panel is made of a 1.5mm galvanized steal, wet-painted or powder coat-painted.

The sections : Master, 2xLFO, 2xOSC, Filter, 2xEnvelope, VCA, Inputs & outputs. The signal flow goes left and right.

Master : for TUNE CV or the FILTER CUTOFF and 3 switches connect LFO1,OSC1,OSC2 pitch for frequency.
It has an octave switch TRANSPOSE and GLIDE.

LFO1 & LFO2 : are identical and have RATE manual controllers ( speed ) .There are wave-selectors bellow RATEs. It can be controlled by external CV inputs and those are calibrated for 1V/oct.
SYNC input is common for both. LFOs has also outputs for the external use ( to the right on panel ).

OSC1 and OSC2: are identical but..OSC1 + Noise OSC2 + Ring modulator
It has manual frequency controllers COARSE and FINE TUNE.
OSC1 and OSC2have a internal sync switch.OSC1 is master OSC2 is slave. It menas synced OSC2 must have a higher frequency than OSC1 when it syncs.
OSC2 has a ring modulator, you can select.
PULSE with controller in Oscillators. PULSE has 2 modes *
Sawtooth + Triangle Sawtooth is pulse width control
You can control Osc pitch separately. FM2 follows 1V/oct.

Filter : you can manually control the cutoff
Cutoff 1 : has 3 different inputs. so, the cutoff can be controlled by *OSC1 & LFO1 *External CV controlled voltage and this is calibrated by 1V/oct& LFO2.
Cutoff 2 & Cutoff 3 are bipolar.
RES : Resonance self oscillating switch. SAT1: Symmetrical soft grip.SAT2: Hard Asymmetrical Tube like distortion. 1POLE/2POLE: multimode filter consists of 2 identical filters so you can have 2 pole or 4 pole and dual peak controlled by spepcing manually and external CV.and also single or dual notch.

Envelope: Conventional ADSR generator with looping A D envelopes when sustain is Zero.
ADSR and MMF have separate outputs.

VCA: the output of VCA is controlled by envelope 2 and external control of velocity. It has 2 modes: *Semi exponential and *Liner. VCA β€˜s output is the main out put called VOICE.

The Cwejman SM1 is a semi modular synthesizer voice that can be played instantly via CV/ Gate.

The module contains two oscillators, a multimode filter, VCA and two ADSR loop envelopes and LFOs. All sections can also be used individually thanks to many patch points.

The master section offers an octave switch with a total of 7 positions. Tracking can be activated separately for each oscillator and for the LFO1 via small switches. In addition, voltage can be smoothed thanks to the glide control. The tracking for the filter cutoff frequency can be variably adjusted thanks to a potentiometer.  
The two LFOs each offer seven different waveforms, including a random voltage. The speed is adjusted manually with rotary knobs or via control voltage and indicated by LEDs.

The two oscillators have an identical layout, with individual controls for volume and FM. The Sync switch allows the second VCO to synchronize with the first. The pitch can be adjusted with potentiometers for coarse and fine tuning. Six waveforms are available, including pulse width and PMW modulation. VCO1 also provides noise, and VCO2 can be used as a ring modulator when the waveform selector is set to a specific position, either with the first oscillator or with the external signal. Each VCO provides two FM inputs with dedicated attenuators, and the FM1 modulation can be positive or negative thanks to the switch.  

The Multimode Filter is a slimmed down version of the MMF-1S with seven reversible filter types and two selectable slopes for most of them. Combined, this results in eleven different filters:

  • Low pass with -12 or -24 dB per octave
  • High pass with -12 or -24 dB per octave
  • Bandpass with -6 or -12 dB per octave
  • three dual bandpasses: two peaks, upper peak, lower peak
  • single notch (in -12 dB position), dual notch (in -24 dB position)

The Res/Osc switch determines whether the resonance begins to oscillate at maximum or not, allowing for a wide range of sounds.
The show stopper is that with the dual filters the distance between the two resonance peaks can be adjusted via the SPACING parameter, which is great for creating vocal sounds! A total of three knobs are available to influence the filter cutoff frequency. Thanks to separate controls, it can be controlled from envelope 1 or 2, either in the positive or negative range. Additionally it can be controlled by VCO1, LFO1, LFO2 or an external control voltage. Thus, very complex modulation can be realized in no time at all.

In addition, the filter offers a saturation stage with two selectable types, which distorts the signal nonlinearly.

There are two identical envelope generators available which can be triggered by a normalized socket from a common signal. Two LEDs indicate the course of each envelope. All parameters (Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release) are voltage controllable. Both envelopes can be switched to Loop mode using individual switches. In addition, the characteristics of the second envelope can be switched from linear to exponential.
