I’m letting go of my beloved McDSP APB-8, a truly unique and powerful piece of gear that was my first introduction to the analog world and hybrid mixing. If you’re looking to bring the depth, warmth, and dimension of analog into your in the box workflow without giving up the convenience of plugins, this unit is perfect.

The APB-8 combines the best of both worlds: eight channels of real analog processing, fully automated and recalled like a plugin. It’s been a joy to use, the sound is larger-than-life, with the character and vibe of true hardware while maintaining the flexibility of digital. My favorite plugin is the Chicken Head. You turn on that sauce button on a vocal and YOUR IN BUSINESS!!!

The only reason I’m parting with it is because this box inspired me to dive even deeper into the analog realm. I’ve decided to invest in a Lynx Aurora N and a Rupert Neve Orbit summing setup to expand my hybrid workflow even further.

It’s bittersweet to let it go, but I know it’ll serve the next owner just as well as it did me. This unit is in excellent condition and has been treated with care in a smoke-free studio.
