I bought this brand new from an authorized Yamaha dealer in February 2025. It's all solid wood and plays beautifully. It's been cared for and received professional maintenance setups from a luthier and tech, adjusting it for low action, and optimizing it for the .11 strings that are currently installed. This has made the guitar even more comfortable to play. It's easy to strum, bend, fingerpick, flatpick and do your thing. It's a healthy guitar. (Note that if you change the strings to .12's you may need to have the guitar adjusted for that string gauge.)

This is from the pre-full gloss era. The semi gloss and satin finish is smooth and looks gorgeous. There's some very faint typical cloudiness in the finish in small areas, but that's very hard to detect with naked eye or camera. The back of the neck is getting a bit shiny from use. There's a very minuscule dot of a pockmark on the back of the neck; very hard to see or photograph but I tried a tight closeup in one of the shots. The original friction-fitted tapered bottom endpin can be pulled out by hand. The luthier offered to glue it during setup, but I wanted to keep it in its original factory state. Note that this will allow you to install a pickup easily if desired. Also note that I have never used a strap with the guitar, and for me the endpin has stayed in securely.

When not played, the guitar stays in its case with two-way humidification packs. I've taken good care of this FS5. I hate to give it up, but I want to fund my next guitar fascination.

The hardshell case is also in excellent condition.

Yamaha papers, Allen wrench, and guitar case key included.
