Here is a lovely 1928 Martin 00-40H. These were originally Hawaiian guitars set up to be played lap-style. This one has been converted to standard play as is often done, the work was done professionally many years ago. The bar frets are in great shape, the guitar is set up perfectly with low action, plays great, sounds gorgeous, and needs no further attention or repairs. The pickguard and bridge are non original. The tuning machines are Waverly replacements, but the originals are in the case. There is a tight center seam fix on the top, two tight cracks along the grain under the B string near the pickguard, and a very short, tight one on the back of the headstock near the high E tuner. As you can see from the photos, these cracks were well-repaired and are hardly visible. The original finish is in good shape with some typical dings and scrapes, but no washboarding or anything deep into the wood. There is light play wear around the pickguard and sound hole area and perhaps there had been a larger pickguard on it at one time. The guitar has been played over the years but has been well cared for. It comes with a 80s vintage Martin case. Book value on these in EX conditon is around $20k.
