This guitar is a perfect example of a 1964 Harmony H165. It has solid quality mahogany top, back, sides and neck in pristine condition for a 60+ year old guitar. You will see from the photos that the wood has a shine that is uncommon for a guitar this mature. The headstock sports the golden clef and ornate scripted Harmony logo that is original to the early 60’s. Yes, there are some mild scratches and dings, that is not uncommon for a guitar of this age, however there are no cracks or major repairs. These models almost always need a neck reset. BUT NOT THIS ONE. The neck is straight and there is ample saddle for future adjustments. The fretboard and bridge are both Brazilian rosewood!
This beauty is a OM/Auditorium size (similar to a Martin 000 size) measuring 15” across the lower bout. It measures 40” in length with a 2 ¾ inch width at the nut.
The bracing is ladder bracing and has a great sweet blues sound! However, it is also a great model to be converted to X bracing. With X bracing this guitar could rival a Martin 000-15 at a fraction of the cost!
The guitar comes with its original 1960’s chipboard case in good working condition to complete the vintage vibe. This guitar model was the model that Elvis used in Girls, Girls, Girls! Hey, what’s good for the King is good for the Gander!
