Here is a beautiful, vintage Haynes-Schwelm C Flute. The previous owner says that it is from late 1920 to 1921. It is in very good condition and comes from an active player.

The Haynes-Schwelm flute company operated briefly from 1920 to 1921. It was a result of a dispute between William S. Haynes and his son, William Winthrop Haynes, leading to the son establishing his own company, which was initially named "W. W. Haynes". This company later became "The Haynes-Schwelm Co.". The father's company, Wm. S. Haynes Co., is still in operation today.

1920-1921:

William Winthrop Haynes, son of William S. Haynes, established his own flute-making company, initially using the name "W. W. Haynes".

1921:

The company name was changed to "The Haynes-Schwelm Co." following a court ruling in favor of the father.

Brief Period:

The Haynes-Schwelm name was only used during this short period before the company ceased operation.

Wm. S. Haynes Co.:

The original Wm. S. Haynes Co. (founded in 1888) continued to operate and is still in business today, making flutes in Boston.

Haynes-Schwelm flutes from this period share keywork similarities with the flutes from the Wm. S. Haynes Co., as the younger Haynes was trained in his father's shop.

The flute is fully serviced with its action adjusted and good pads. It is set up and ready to play. The body is in great condition overall with no dents and only a couple almost imperceptible dings. The silver plate is in great shape with minimal tarnish. Includes case and cleaning rod.
