JBL C37 Rhodes Speakers System 001 1960s - Walnut

 Up for sale is my all original pair of MCM styled JBL C37 Rhodes speakers. I am the second owner of these and have enjoyed them immensely over the last twenty years, but it is now time for me to pass them on.

These beautiful wood cabinets have the Nelson spun metal legs and feature JBL’s System 001, mostly with consecutive serial numbers:

130A Low Frequency Woofers (serial numbers: 20166 / 20167)

Model 175 High Frequency Drivers (serial numbers: 12765 / 12766)

1217-1219 Horn Tubes (serial numbers: 10737 / 10740)

N1200 Crossover (serial numbers 10565 / 10566).

The cabinets are in very nice shape, particularly for their age, but even without considering that they look beautiful. There are a couple chips to the outer veneer but the grain is really vibrant and free of any major marks. I just spent some real time giving these a cosmetic restoration and they are ready to shine in their new home. The internal components are all fully functioning and immaculate. There is little fraying on the grille cloth, mostly above one of the badges. I’ve taken many photographs to give an idea of their condition but in my opinion they are even more attractive in person.

These speakers are housed at my studio in El Sereno, and serious buyers can audition them there as well. I hate to see these go, but I unfortunately no longer have the space to dedicate to a system of this size.
