100% factory-original 1981 right-handed Fender Precision Bass in a beautiful solid Red finish with a dark Rosewood fingerboard. This bass is no joke- cosmetically excellent with no dings, chips, or scratches on the body or neck. I’m calling it VG due to a pickup swap (Originals included) but this boy is excellent!!! Includes the original Fender hard shell case in great condition. I originally thought it was a ‘78, but I did some deep-dives on the different serials. For those interested, this bass has a list of late-CBS transition history and documented factory quirks:

• Serial Number: S8-prefix decal on the headstock (printed during the 1978 surplus run, factory-assembled in 1981).
• Neck Heel: Factory wood routing lot stamp "1481" alongside the craftsman/inspector signature stamp.
• Electronics: Pickups installed are Fender Custom 62. Originals shipped with bass. Pots are 100% original, features rare factory-installed Reverse Audio CTS pots stamped R1378106 (6th week of 1981)—a classic example of the Fullerton factory using left-handed pot stock on a right-handed assembly run to keep up with production.
• Body/Hardware: Finished in 100% factory-original solid Red finish. The neck pocket contains the pristine, original Fender factory S905642 serial ID sticker. This fragile paper label perfectly dates the body fabrication to the 1979/1980 warehouse run and definitively proves the red finish is original and has never been altered. Ships w/original white multi-ply pickguard as well. One thumbrest screw is missing.
