Sounds as good as it looks! This Gibson A2 mandolin, notably superior than the A (having white binding), is in impeccable shape and was sanded down to the bare wood for a full concourse restoration in early 2025 by a local pro NYC luthier. It was then given a proper setup and has been in its original Gibson HSC case ever since (see last 3 pics for beautiful case) so you are essentially getting a brand new mandolin, post-resto! presto! It is 100% all original and has the original tuners which have been oiled and straightened, the original bridge, the original saddle, original frets, the original strap peg and the original Gibson engraved bridge cover sanded for oxidization and polished). A beautiful booming sound, projects wonderfully and plays like a mandolin 10x its price. A true gem of an instrument in fantastic shape.

No cracks at all. Not a scratch on it, as the finish is brand new. It has three coats of Stew Mac stain (which matches the original stain perfectly) and a flawlessly smooth semi-gloss Stew Mac clear coat.

This mandolin is extremely solid & should last another hundred years if taken care of properly. The neck was also treated with a few coats of lemon oil and it comes with the clean original hardshell case in working condition! The case is extremely rare, and so is an uncracked headstock (they are known to vertically split up over time). This is a very special mandolin and you won’t find another in such amazing condition.
