A lovely guitar. Brought over from the UK by me in my suitcase, and given a set up and more at Brooklyn Fine guitars, who
- Installed a lock washer inside of guitar on jack
- Adjusted the truss rod and bridge
- Tightened all hardware
- Re-glued the gold frets
- Leveled, crowned, and polished all frets
- Re-cut nut slot and nut
- Re-cut saddle and filed to remove burrs
- Intonated.
The guitar includes the original Burns neck pickup, but a previous owner has replaced the original pickup (lost) with (what I'm told by a guitar building friend) is a "1970s era univox/Ibanez/elektra/maxon magnaflux humbucker" that sounds fantastic, especially when both pickups are on. Really, really nice tone. The thing I love is when you engage the bridge pick up, both tone dials work, giving you even more tone options. this guitar is a unique joy
The guitar itself is definitely used and seems to have been a hardworking guitar for someone. It has a bit of checking, numerous dings, little bits of wear and tear all over, as shown in the photos. But the construction is as solid as a rock, the action nice and low, and it plays really well. For a 59 year old guitar, it has a ton of life left in it. If it was a Fender Jazzmaster or a pair of expensive jeans, people would pay extra for this!
