








Low Noise Preamp for Microphones and Pickups
Banana version of the Pre in 'Helene' style. Functions, technical specifications and dimensions (3U) are identical to those of the minijack version.
The Pre is a preamplifier module for microphones, pickups (e.g. from e-guitars) and more, made for the use in modular synthesizers. High amplification together with a very low noise floor allows the processing of even very low input signals (such as from dynamic microphones). The module is equipped with a 'Sensitivity‘ knob to adapt the amplification to different input levels, due to the large variety of different pickups or microphones.
Further, there is a 2nd minijack/banana input, which can be used instead of the 1/4′ jack input; thus the main input jack will be switched off.
A red LED indicates when the signal level is becoming overdriven, then the preamp will show soft clipping behaviour (so the Pre can also be used for distortion).
On the back of the module, a trimmer allows the setting of the output gain between 3Vpp and 18Vpp. By standard, the output gain is set to a max amplitude of ca 12Vpp. There is also a jumper on the back for optionally supplying an electret microphone with +12V DC (through a resistor), provided on the middle ring of a 3-pole (TRS) jack.

Please note: For connection of CG Products banana modules to external devices a common ground connection must be ensured. If there isn't already a ground connection via e.g. a common power supply, we recommend the CG Products PCV-2. The PCV-2 provides a safe ground connection and interfacing with minijack and 1/4' jack.
