Many Type F's are failing and in desperate need of repair, sounding thin or have low volume. THIS is not one of those. This mic stands up against an RCA 44 all day and dare I say, sounds even better! Unlike the Electrovoice V-1 or RCA 74b Calrad knockoffs, this Toshiba F is an absolutely phenomenal sounding microphone, probably the best I've ever owned and with a fascinating history as well:
Recently serviced by Coles Picks Vintage and in stellar working order. This incredible long ribbon microphone was a flagship mic made by the Japanese Toshiba company in the 1950s to compete with the Rca 74b and can keep up with the best of the best all day. It was also used in a recent Timothée Chalamet film called Marty Supreme and has on-screen prop usage! This is a phenomenal example of one the greatest ribbon mics ever to come from the east. It not only looks gorgeous but sounds just as good, with full frequency response and a new ribbon installed 2024.
Comes with a lovely walnut case in perfect working order. Hinges and latch and handle work perfectly. The whole kit is in phenomenal shape. There’s a genuine Neutrik XLR jack & a new cable installed 2024 too. The ultimate collectors Toshiba F.
Comes with the unobtanium 5/8” RCA adapter for modern stand mounting (do NOT lose this!)
Thanks for looking. Open to trade. Have a great day.
