Made in USA in 1984, here we have a fantastic working example of one of the most desirable polysynths of all time, Oberheim OB-8. This was the final model in the OB range, only 3,000-ish ever made 1983-1985, and has the most features, including arpeggiator, "page 2" advanced editing, for example. 120 program memory ( + splits/dual), factory-installed MIDI (vital!) add extreme clout to the huge/fat sounds that only Oberheim can supply, with 8 voice (stereo) polyphony and uncomplicated new sound creation hand in hand with subtractive analogue synthesis.
ITS SIMPLY ONE OF THE BEST SYNTHS EVER MADE.       NO MORE, NO LESS.
Lots of movie soundtracks used OB-8s. Prince/Police/Pet Shop Boys etc were avid users.....find "Boadicea", from the movie soundtrack "Sleepwalkers"..by Steven King/Enya...that is a menacing sound.....                  boo!
                                                          Hail, King Oberheim the 8th!
                           Dims are 103 x 53 x 16(H) cms. Weight is only 17 kgs.  s/n 043401
This particular one is now working 100%, after pro servicing by Klassic Keys GB's expert tech (SynthRestore/Bedford). All repaired, with some new chips, new internal battery and PSu mod ...all voiced and calibrated, with stable tuning on all 8 voices. ORIGINAL FACTORY PATCHES have been reloaded.(see pix). There are one or two micro scratches/dinks if you look for them.  Synth tunes up well, and is very stable. NO scratchy pots/switches. The keys now sit perfectly in line, and they all trigger every time, with no hairline cracks. Remember, this synth has MIDI, so can be played from any other MIDI keyboard, if you do not like the feel of the keys. They are not velocity-sensitive; that's how they were in 1984!  Photocopied owner's manual is supplied. Genuine Oberheim footswitch is included in the package (for sustain/advance of programs etc). Synth was sourced from Liverpool, previous history unknown. It is unlikely that KKGB will be replacing this OB-8, once it has been sold. Sourcing is becoming real hard work, and prices/taxes/duties/shipping all combine to defeat importing any more....
"Jump", by Van Halen (bless, Eddie...) is an easy-find example of the Oberheim sound (it was an OB-Xa,, little difference...). There are plenty of demos on You Tube..... Anywhere else, just tell us where you are, and speedy send quote will be supplied.....we ship (nearly) world-wide.
** WITH FREE UK DELIVERY **
The OB-8 has a dual-voltage 120/220V switch, so no problems in that department.
Klassic Keys GB have now rescued/fixed & re-sold 19 Oberheims (OB-X, OB-SX, OB-Xa & OB-8) over the past four years. NONE have had to repaired, such is the quality of service.....so buy with confidence. Buy elsewhere at your peril...... We will cheerily give you 6 months FULL guarantee.
Do you have surplus keyboards? To soften the fiscal pressure, we can hammer out some kind of deal. Give it a try? What have you got to lose? No rubbish, palease.......no silly low offers.........UK price is now £7350, selling via HMRC VAT margin scheme. This simply means that no VAT can be reclaimed. Private buyers are totally unaffected.. EXPORT price is £6350 (local taxes/duties will be charged by customs/shippers). KKGB have no control over this.....
** free UK delivery to mainland (only) **
Apart from a Memorymoog, we simply do not believe that there is any other better sounding programmable analogue synthesizer in the world that also has unique features (eg page 2 editing). OK, there is the Yamaha CS-80 (and others), but we are talking about supply/reliability/price in the  real world of 2026. OB-8 is the "last synth standing", for sure.....spare parts are readily available (no obselete superchips)......and one last comment?.....its just so cool...... LOOK at it....... and it sounds as good as it looks........We have compared this with the new OB-X8. There is NO comparison. OB-8 still sounds far better.....and has loads of boards inside (great to witness...), thus will always be easy to repair......
