This guitar was purchased in England in the early 1960's. It was gigged with a few times on the British circuit and then the owner sold it to a friend in a moment of financial desperation. The new owner was a drummer and moved to the states with it where it sat in a case under his bed until I purchased it from him.
After I purchased the guitar, the seller told me that the original owner was at a Beatles show at a place called the Cavern Club shortly after he bought the Verithin. He said that Paul McCartney broke a string and asked if anyone had a guitar he could borrow and his friend lent him this guitar to finish out the set. He said he had no way to prove this but because he didn't tell me the story until after I paid him for the guitar. It seemed to me like he was telling the truth. Folklore or not, it makes for a great story. I guess if someone out there knows Paul you could ask him for me ;)
This is a beautiful, all original, unmolested example or german craftsmanship. These guitars are real sleepers because the pickups have such a killer vintage tone Similar sounding to a Rickenbacker. Very articulate! The tone pot has been replacing and a new orange drop cap added to the circuit.
The checking on the finish is sooooo sexy! One of the best looking guitars I have ever owned. You will not be disappointed.
Ships in a gig bag.
