650 mm Scale, 52 mm Nut. Fine to Medium grain Spruce Soundboard and Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. French Polish. 7 Fan Braces and 2 Closing Bars. Action 4/32" on the 1st string and 6/32" on the 6th string, easy to play, slanted fret board same style as Eric Sahlin. Signed and Numbered 810 under the top.
This has a great resonance and a shimmering tone as the video shows. The French Polish has such a sheen to it, it makes if very difficult to photograph the back.
This is the 1st Artist Model my shop has been able to offer since 1989, I've known the maker since 1987 to speak on the phone with, I wrote him the other day to ask about the fingerboard shape.
(He wrote the forward to my book: ANNOTATIONS FOR THE HISTORY OF THE CLASSICAL GUITAR IN ARGENTINA 1822-2000, 4 VOLS. - this is available on Reverb too.)
Here is the dialogue with my longtime colleague:
"It has a spectacular tone, what do you call the fingerboard shape that is slanted, it’s in the same style as Eric Sahlin's guitars. Do you have a name for it?"
Richard replied:
"I set up every guitar for the needs of the player to maximize play ability as the player defines it. For us the “standard” specs are only defined by what each skilled player tells us they need. No one size fits all like Ramirez used to do with his signature 1a."
