2000 model D-35 with excellent playability now in stock!
Born in 1965, the Dreadnought D-35 is characterized by its “3-piece back” construction, featuring a back made from three separate pieces of wood.
In the 1960s, the Brazilian government banned the export of Brazilian rosewood (Hacalanda) in log form to protect resources.
This resulted in significantly higher material costs, making it impractical for mass production. To conserve materials, the ‘3-piece’ back was adopted, giving birth to the ‘D-35’.
It features a traditional dovetail neck joint and lacks the diamond volute. The top is Sitka spruce, while the sides and back are Indian rosewood.
The fingerboard and bridge are ebony.
The body shows wipe marks, scuffs, linear scratches, and impact marks. The pickguard has faint, fine picking marks.
The body top has scattered impact marks of varying sizes, primarily on the lower section; these are not deep and are visible only when held to the light.
The lower right corner of the pickguard has a scratch.
Minor scuffs are also visible on the body sides, mainly on the lower sections.
The upper center of the body back has a dull buckle mark, along with overall fine scuffs and minor dents.
The neck back has a slight sheen and a bit of the common sticky residue, but it's not noticeable.
The headstock has uneven satin finish.
The nut has been replaced.
The neck condition is fine, and the truss rod can be adjusted both tightening and loosening.
The frets show no noticeable string wear and retain about 70% of their original height.
Current string height is set to approximately 2.2mm at the 12th fret on the 6th string side and about 1.7mm on the 1st string side.
There is still some height available at the saddle, allowing for further adjustment here.
Overall, it shows age-appropriate wear but no significant damage.
Its delicate, gentle sound is truly unique to a 35! With its low string height, playability is excellent!
