For sale we have a 1984 Made in USA Fender Precision Bass in factory Black finish with original black Tolex hardshell case. The bass is in very good used condition overall showing moderate cosmetic wear with surface scuffs and scratches scattered throughout the top and back sides of the body, small dings, dents and one chip (about the size of a match head) that goes through the finish to wood on the forearm contour (see photo). The neck is quite clean with little wear to speak of, a handful of faint dings around the headstock and along the backside as well as a few surface scuffs in the clear coat but in great shape overall. All parts are original to the bass to the very best of our knowledge. Structurally sound with no cracks, breaks or repairs. Excellent sounding and playing P from the first post-CBS year at Fender. This Precision Bass features a 34” scale length, solid Alder body with comfort contours and Black finish, white single-ply pickguard, equipped with its original split-bobbin single coil pickup with white covers, volume and tone controls, knurled chrome knobs and a top-loader style stop tail bridge with four adjustable barrel saddles. The Hard Rock Maple neck features a comfortable medium C-shape profile measuring .820” deep at the first fret and .890” deep at the twelfth fret. The neck has a wide flat feel in the hand. The ink stamp on the heel reads “May 29 1984”. Width at the nut measures 1 3/4”. The Maple fingerboard features a 9 1/2” radius, black dot inlaid fret markers and 20 original medium jumbo frets. The frets show just a small bit of wear between frets 1-5 but overall they are in great shape with tons of life left. The neck is straight and plays great, notes ring clean and clear with no dead spots. Truss rod access is located at the headstock, it turns well in both directions and functions perfectly. The headstock sports Fender “macaroni logo” and “Precision Bass” waterslide decals, a round string-free and Febeer “F” branded open gear tuners with Clover Leaf buttons.
