Despite being (and looking like) an 80 year old guitar, this 1945 Gibson Banner Southern(er) Jumbo is solid. 5-piece neck with Truss rod, 4-piece Spruce top, 2-piece mahogany back and sides, Rosewood Bridgeplate. FON #2849. Replacement tuners. I couldn't say if the Bridge was original or not, but it's solid and securely fixed to the to. Replaced Bone Nut, Saddle and bridge pins. Two Martin-style pick guards have been added at some point. The treble side PG covers most of a crack that would have been at the outer edge of the original PG (which has been well repaired and cleated). The sides are in good shape, with a repaired crack at the treble side waist and a repaired crack on the treble side, near the original strap button at the bottom (never had a strap button installed on neck). The back has 2 well repaired cracks. When I acquired this guitar, the neck block had slipped and the top cracked along the bass side along the neck. The top-notch luthiers at Wood Street Guitar repair (in Oakland) removed the neck and repaired the neck block before re-setting it and replacing the frets with Stainless Steel frets and then Plek'd the neck for absolutely perfect action, which should last forever (or close to it). The hardshell, green-lined case it came in is in really great shape, and though these guitars virtually never were shipped from the factory in a hard case (as I understand), I don't doubt that this may have been purchased at the Music Store when the guitar was purchased, but that's just a guess.

The guitar looks how it looks, that's in the eye of the beholder. But the sound? Well there's no question that it sounds amazing! I've played 2 other Banner guitars (an SJ and a J45) and this certainly retains that sound, bass-y, rumbly, growly, yet balanced.

Here's another YouTube video of it being played:
