Here's an excellent example of master luthier Dake Traphagen's Rodriguez-inspired work from the early 90s. There are two well-repaired cleated cracks, one on the top below the bridge and another on the lower part of the back. Both are stable and do not affect the sound. This instrument has been well played. The french polish appears worn and clouded throughout, but the wood remains sealed, and blemishes are cosmetic, not structural.
The guitar plays well up and down the neck, projecting a rich, deep, lyrical, woody, and powerful sound. It remains a true concert instrument and a great value for someone more interested in sound than appearance. I have played it for a few hundred hours over the past two years, stored it in a temperature and humidity controlled environment, and it has improved my playing markedly. I'm selling it reluctantly and only so that I can afford a new luthier made instrument.
