1954 Fender Stratocaster Sunburst - serial 0015
This is a beautiful Fender Stratocaster, with a fantastic ownership history, since it was passed on from father to son, and remained within the same family for seven decades.
Made in july 1954 at the Fender Factory, this guitar has a lot of unique features, some common to the earliest batch of Stratocasters made in 1954, some totally unique to this very guitar.
First of all, this is a "no worm route" example, with the early neck pocket depth, hence the instrument has a peculiar playing action level (this would have been changed in August 1954), and was born with the typical early 1954 specs, from the short skirt knobs to the early polystirene plastics, to the rare slotted screws used on the bridge, pickguard and jack plate.
But the woods of this guitar are what makes it so special, infact it has a rarely seen one piece flamed and birdseye maple neck, with intricate and beautiful 3d figuring at the headstock and on the back, a figured walnut skunk stripe, and a feather weight, one piece centenary swamp ash that has been cut in quarter sawn, with a incredibly tight grain.
The instrument is fitted with all its original parts, with the only exception of the polystirene plastics, that are accurate reproductions (the best ever made).
When the owner was in the US Army he painted the guitar in black, but preserved all the original finish in all the cavities, so in 2022 ToneTeam luthier Matteo Rufini removed the black finish to reveal the insanely rare quarter sawn body wood, and he finished the guitar with a beautiful early sunburst, precisely matched to the original finish that was still pristine in all the cavities.
The guitar sounds fantastic, and comes with full provenance letter from the original owner, pictures of him with the guitar, original tweed case "center pocket", and tremolo arm.
Last but not least, has a super cool low serial number on the neck plate, 0015!
