This is an extremely unique guitar with a cool backstory! Back in the 2000's, a guy at Gibson put together this beautiful ES-137 with a very unique paint job. See-through red on flamed wood with black binding. He slapped a "P" on it, but it wasn't actually a Premier guitar; he just needed to label it as something. He took this guitar to the boss and asked if it could be put into production. He was told that 137 is supposed to be an affordable guitar. The flamed wood would make the guitar to expensive. No dice. The guitar was to be euthanised. They were going to strip the hardware and put it in the woodchipper. While on a tour of the factory, the guitar store owner where I work saw the guitar and learned the story. He begged Gibson to sell it to him, and they agreed. It has been in my collection ever since.
I replaced the 490 series pickups with Di Marzio. I can't remember the exact models, but they were appropriate for semi-hollow guitars. The neck is something jazzy and the bridge is more on the rock side.
This guitar has lived mostly in the guitar case. I haven't played it very much. The guitar is in excellent condition. The case has a few scuffs but no tears.
The uniqueness of this guitar makes it valuable to collectors!
