Russ McKinnon played this Trick purple aluminum shelled snare with Tower of Power circa 1989-1995. He played with Tower of Power, following Herman Matthews and preceding David Garibaldi’s return. He brought his fusion-influenced precise touch to the band while still honoring the tight, funky legacy of Tower's sound. Known for his session work and live versatility, McKinnon adapted to TOP’s complex horn-driven arrangements with finesse and groove.

This Trick 14x4" snare is a high-performance, aircraft-grade aluminum drum. McKinnon’s choice of a Trick 14x4" snare fit Tower of Power’s demand for tight, articulate snare work — especially with fast ghost notes and backbeat precision. Like most of Russ's gear, this snare is in flawless condition, and has an upgraded Trick GS007 throw off. The signed head has Russ's precise stick markings grouped right in the center. This drum is snappy, articulate and has great projection, similar to David Garibaldi's Yamaha signature snare, only in purple :)
