Sunburst, Guild’s answer to the heavy new Les Paul by Gibson and before the Gretsch Duo Jet as a semi solid guitar with no F holes. Spruce top, fine old growth Honduran Mahogany back and sides. Three piece neck with ample center. 13.5” wide body that is 2” deep yet standard 24 3/4” scale.
This guitar has original pots and a new bridge. The tone control on the bass pickup doesn’t work. Otherwise quite clean with small buckle rash and some edge chipping. These pre 1959 models have 10 block inlays while later models only have 8. The Guild catalog of ’54 states: “…Exclusively developed lighter semi-solid body construction give a magnificence of tone never before achieved in a guitar of this size. This semi solid midget is in a class by itself.” Indeed. Comes with a nice original hard case.
