Late 70s or early 80s ESP Jazz Bass from Japan. I'm pretty sure it's a Navigator. Pickups are believed to be upgraded to DiMarzio Jazz Bass from the same era. The neck is a fairly new replacement. Likely a higher end Asian neck. There's little to no fret wear. A great neck that's straight, low action, and keeps in tune. It's all really nice!
The body is a solid one piece with grains showing straight through. It's clearly a top of the line design with the bindings and solid wood. Amazing sustain and very solid feeling. The one flaw is a small hole that looks like a strap button was placed on back of the guitar (shown in photos next to the back plate). Its not very noticeable. The bass has flat wound strings that are old but sound good. The 2 tone sunburst is a gorgeous mix of black and yellow with slight tinges of green. The body hardware (strap pins, knobs, and bridge) are all original. The controls, strap pins and bridge are brass. The bass with current neck and strings weighs slightly under 10 lbs.
The electronics are passive so no battery required. Buy it now and I'll include a hardshell case, or make me an offer without the case!
Earlier I wasn't willing to sell without the neck, but since I've been asked a few times, I'll knock $100 off the price and $50 off shipping if you just want the loaded body.
I added a picture of the neck pocket which has a Japanese "u" in green. If anyone knows about that let me know...might help in determining date or confirming model
