1979 Gibson Explorer with ultra-rare binding and blocks. Gibson can confirm this guitar as to production date, but has no precise records. UV light suggests it's factory original.
Original pickups long gone, replaced by modern Gibson humbuckers. Sounds and plays great, feels like a new guitar, case is in excellent shape. One unfortunate hole for a drilled pickguard in period, which is included, see photos.
This guitar, in this condition, is vanishingly rare. I have no real idea what it's worth, so I'm taking the price of a plain-Jane Explorer from the era and bumping a LITTLE. Get it before I find the comps or have George Gruhn value it.
