Here is a Greco S-55 (Gibson ES175 copy) from 1974 right smack in the middle of their guitar making height. This is Greco at it's best. Whether you are looking for mellow Barney Kesser jazz tones or screaming Brian Setzer rockabilly, this guitar does not disappoint. The burst is gorgeous. The finish is perfect (any anomalies y

from the pics are camera glare). The build quality is top-shelf. There is a piece of binding missing from the horn but it's clean and easy to replace, a small imperfection in the f hole (see pics) and some very minor checking, it's as near perfect as any proper pre-lawsuit era Greco we've seen. Japanese luthiers were then making perfect (many would say superior) replicas of Gibsons who had very good reason to fear them. A very rare find.

Matsumoku and Fujigen, the same factory where the excellent Japanese Fenders are now produced.

Playability, comfort and resonance are excellent. The action is low and easy. Neck is straight with a working truss. Tuners hold well. Frets are excellent. The pups are lovely and warm with excellent microphonic quality. All original.
