As per the Fender serial # L18472, this is a 1963 Fender Precision Bass, including a brand new aftermarket tweed style hardshell case.

Please note that I inherited this guitar from a longtime friend who passed away a few years ago. When my friend obtained the guitar back in the 90's, it had no case and was not in playable condition. He obtained it with the intention of it being a restoration project, but he never got around to it before his cancer diagnosis.

It obviously is not the original finish. Based on paint residue found after removing the neck, it appears the original was an aqua color. The guitar had been modified by a previous owner by cutting out an opening in the original pick guard, carving out an approximate 3"x2" cavity in the body and re-wiring it, in order to add a 3rd pickup which was a Gibson EB0. I have included a photo of the guitar as I received it with no case and the added Gibson EBO pickup still installed. Both original pots were locked up and missing knobs. I have recently had it checked out by a local guitar store technician. He verified the 1963 model year, the condition and originality of its parts, except for those stated below that now have been replaced. The EB0 pickup has been removed. A small section of wood between the cavity and the neck mount appears to have been previously repaired. The previous carved out area has been partially cleaned up with a router. The original upper pot (photo) has been cleaned and restored. The lower pot (photo) had to be replaced with a new one. All rewired properly as original. Replaced the pickguard and (5) screws, the knobs, the bridge and saddles, and the thumb rest with new. The truss rod was adjusted. Cleaned and hydrated the fret board. Restrung with new strings and adjusted as needed with a strobe. The technician says the guitar now plays extremely well with that full 1963 Precision sound.

I am including the original pickguard with the cut-out and a small break and some extra screws that were left with it.

I recently purchased the new aftermarket case for it in order to ship the guitar properly.

On my digital bath scale, which has a 10 lb. minimum, this case with the guitar inside weighs 21.4 lbs., less the case weighing 12 lbs., leaves 9.4 lbs. for the guitar itself as best as I can determine.

Please note that this is a vintage "used" guitar. This year, it is "63" years old. I am selling this bass guitar, case and accessories "as is" per my description and photographs, with "no guarantees or warranties implied or expressed". I am not a store owner or in the music business. I am an individual that is ready to let go of the sentiment and hopefully find a good home for it with someone who appreciates it as my friend did.

I prefer local pick up here in St. Louis, Mo., but will ship anywhere in the US (48) states. If my actual shipping cost turns out to be less than my estimated amount, I will gladly refund you the difference.

Shipping Supplement 7/6/26: I have lessened the estimated shipping from $195.29 to $141.55 via UPS. This is estimating the worse case scenario shipping from St. Louis to either cities on the west coast or the east coast. If you live anywhere in between, the cost should be less. Again, if my actual cost turns out to be less, then I will gladly and immediately refund you the difference.

To all of the 1,126 people (as of today 7/6/26) that have viewed my listing and to all of the 33 people who are currently keeping a watch on it, I thank you again for your curiosity and possible interest.

Sincerely,

That Guy
