Vintage 1960's Gibson Thunderbird (Non-Reverse) Bass Guitar Husk Project!

Up for sale is this vintage 1960's Gibson Thunderbird (non-reverse) bass guitar husk project. This one is offered "AS IS" and "AS FOUND", so please be sure to read the entire description and see all of the photos.

This listing includes the original body which retains some of the original finish but looks to have been "polished" with steel wool. It has been buffed through in other spots but could probably be cleaned up quite a bit. The front and back of the body exhibit very attractive finish checking under the current dull-luster. There appears to have been a neck pocket crack that has been glued but we honestly aren't positive that it isn't just the grain lines, but we like to be transparent about such things. The original shielding is still in the control cavity.

The neck is non-original and was put on in the 1980's and never finished. The headstock is reminiscent of an Explorer Bass, but the headstock is a bit off and we do not believe it to be a Gibson part. That being said, this one came out of the Kalamazoo area and has the Gibson truss rod nut, so anything is possible. The neck, which has never had tension on it, currently exhibits a decent amount of back bow with the truss rod all the way loose. The truss rod does function when tightened though.

Overall, a very interesting project for someone and, as hard to find as these are in any condition, this one shouldn't last long.

No case or gig bag is included, but the instrument will be well-packed to ensure safe shipping.
