Restored/Repaired Guitars
From time to time we getin damaged or defective guitars-we fix 'em, test 'em and then sell 'em at deep discount. !
How does this happen ????
The design of the modern 3x3 headstock shape puts stress on the weakest part of the guitar neck. The string pull, thickness of neck and the hole drilled for the trussrod all contribute to a very weak spot on every single 3x3 guitar ever manufactured …Gibson owners, especially owners of vintage gear are all to familiar with the “typical Gibson broken headstock” –if you drop your guitar-weather it’s a $50 Jay Turser or a $10,000 custom shop Gibson-the odds are they will break at this weak point –no worries, most of the time its a very easy fix- repaired headstocks are not that uncommon-but-even a repaired headstock will break if you drop/knock down one of these guitars-its just how these beasties were designed.
Imports (like Epiphone) tend to break along the scarf joint.Fortunately, most of these repairs are pretty straight forward and result in a structurally stable playable guitar with a scar-but priced accordingly. Most import guitars have a scarf joint-either hidden under veneer or dark stain-this scarf joint is basically glued together pieces of wood-just like a repair-the glue (Tightbond) is stronger than the wood it holds together.
These guitars were damaged in transit to the retailer and were never sold-rather they were part of a large insurance claim.
This is a tremendous opportunity to get a brand new ,
unplayed Epiphone for a substantial discount
off of street price !!!!
-we will be adding 10-15 additional Epiphone rescues as they become available-if there is a model you want but don’t see-just ask, we probably have it !
Nancy Wilson Nighthawk Fanatic Electric
This guitar, homage to the Gibsaon "Nighthalk" Overview-The Epiphone Nancy Wilson Nighthawk Standard Electric Guitar is a beautifully figured, tonally versatile and expertly crafted instrument recognizing the achievements and career of Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson. Nancy has long been a fan of the Nighthawk and this variation is one of the most elegant ever produced. Gibson USA gives this axe a highly figured Grade-AAA maple top dressed in a high-gloss nitrocellulose finish with Cherry back and neck, and a commemorative 'Fanatic' truss-rod cover.
All the distinctive ingredients that made the Nighthawk model stand out initially are in the Nancy Wilson Nighthawk Standard, including the 25.5-inch scale length for defined lows and highs, comfortable body contours, through-body stringing and the unique Nighthawk bridge. Gibson pairs a Nighthawk Mini-humbucker and Nighthawk Lead humbucker, with five-way switching for a wide range of tones.
Body and NeckThe mahogany body of the Nancy Wilson Nighthawk Standard follows the Nighthawk's stylized take on Gibson's legendary Les Paul, with a deeper cutaway, a ribcage contour for enhanced playing comfort, and a longer scale length for a broader voice. Its top is made from beautifully figured Grade-AAA maple.
A solid, quarter-sawn mahogany neck with a 25.5 inch scale length is glued into the body and carved in a comfortably rounded profile. The guitar has a bound fingerboard made from solid rosewood, inlaid with parallelogram position markers. A Corian nut cut on Gibson's computer-controlled PLEK helps to ensure optimum sustain and precise intonation.
Pickups and Electronics The Nancy Wilson Nighthawk Standard has incredible versatility thanks to a Nighthawk Mini-Humbucker in the neck for a rich, throaty growl and a Nighthawk Lead Humbucker in the bridge which is primed for everything from mammoth crunch to articulate, singing lead tones, yet you merely have to flip the five-way selector switch to tap brighter single-coil sounds, and a range of other tones. Master tone and volume controls make for easy on-the-fly adjustments.
Hardware and Plastics
The heart of the Epiphone Nancy Wilson Nighthawk Standard's superb resonance and sustain is found in its through-body stringing and rock-solid Nighthawk bridge. The bridge, strap buttons, and vintage-style 'Epiphone Deluxe' tuners are all gold plated, as are the pickup's mounting rings and neck pickup cover. Amber 'top-hat' knobs lend an air of Gibson tradition, there's a commemorative truss-rod cover hot stamped with 'Fanatic'.
Nancy Wilson from the smash early success of 1975's Dreamboat Annie to contemporary hits launched by her much-applauded return to the band in more recent years, Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson has been the cornerstone of many of rock's most enduring songs, and the architect of a myriad timeless riffs. She has long been a fan of one of Epiphone more powerful 'modern alternatives' too--and to recognize the union of artist and instrument, Gibson USA introduces the Nancy Wilson Nighthawk Standard, an elegant variation on a contemporary classic.
