This 1967 Fender Coronado II Thinline Hollow Body Electric Guitar in Cherry Red is a stunning example of Fender's brief foray into the hollowbody market. Made in Fullerton, California, it features a laminated maple body, a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, and a vibrant cherry red lacquer finish that has hardly faded after over 55 years. The guitar is equipped with twin pickups sourced from Rowe Industries (makers of DeArmond), which offer a distinctive tone. The body showcases classic Fender design elements, including a bound, block-inlaid neck and a thin-rimmed, fully hollow body with bound edges and f-holes.

This early Coronado II model is in near-mint condition, showing only light handling marks and retaining its original finish and hardware. The cherry finish remains bright and rich, with no noticeable fade, and the hardware shines like new. The guitar plays and sounds as it should, offering a unique blend of Fender playability and hollowbody warmth. Housed in its original black hard shell case, this Coronado II is a true time capsule of Fender history, a highly attractive and playable instrument that offers a more refined experience than critics initially acknowledged. A beautiful and collectible piece, it’s a standout example of the Coronado series and an interesting part of Fender’s legacy.
