Falcon Acoustic Nightingale NM-1 Vintage 1974 B-139 KEF

RARE Falcon Acoustics Nightingale NM-1 speaker.

Falcon was founded in 1972 as Falcon Electronics by the first employee (1961) at KEF Electronics Ltd., Malcolm Jones. As Senior Development Engineer he did most of the design and development of the B139s, B200s, B110s, T15, T27 and the systems in which they were incorporated. He left KEF in 1974 having just completed the Reference Series 104 system and work on an active professional monitor, LS5/1AC, to work full time at Falcon Acoustics Ltd.

The NM-1 is using the famous Kef B-139 woofer in a large open (transmission line) enclosure in a 3 way system. Peerless midrange has its own sealed enclosure. Note: midrange drivers have been professionally refoamed within the last 2 months. Tweeter is an Isophon dome tweeter. Crossover is on top of the housing.

The bass is effortless, good staging and pleasant sound without tireing sharpness.

I assume the speakers originally came with a 'hat' or cap (assume 'wiremesh cage'), the velcro strips are still present on top of the housing.

The speaker has nice large adjustable feet that also decouple from the floor.

The speakers are located in Brighton, MI and pickup is preferred; shipping will require extensive building of a box and lots of packing material to ensure safe transit, and there is quite costly. So pickup is much preferred. The shipping value entered is just a placeholder (think strapped to pallet and shipped with truck, or 2 boxes shipped via FedEx or similar.

I am not aware of another pair of NM-1 currently for sale, so determining the market value is difficult; I am open to offers!
