"Part of the small range of Moog pro-audio equipment, the MKG  is a ten-band graphic equaliser in the traditional black & white Moog style

The ten bands are centred at 31, 63, 125, 250, 500, 1k, 2k, 4k, 8k and 16 kHz. Maximum boost & cut are 15 dB and the octave spacing makes for fairly broad EQ bands ideal for subtle sound-shaping

Like the MKPE parametric, the MKG has an unusual Drive circuit which sets the gain structure of the unit. Gain sets the overall output level but Drive sets the level in the eq section. Drive reduces the input level while increasing the output, giving no change in overall gain

Unlike third-octave graphics, which can sound tight & notchy, octave equalisers are broad enough to sound smooth when used in moderation. A big part of the appeal of the MKG, though, is that it still sounds musical and usable when pushed to the maximum – when pushed fully into clipping the MKG sounds great on drums"
