This is a contact microphone built inside of a metal tin of some kind. It has a built-in pre-amplifer that includes compression (2:1) and noise gating. This means this thing sounds great and better than your average contact mic (wider frequency range, less noisy). Has a 1/4" mono output jack, a sturdy toggle switch for power, and a power indicator light. Runs on a tiny CR2032 coin-type battery. This is great for artists experimenting with electroacoustic music; stick it to a steel plate with a magnet, clamp it to a tree branch, put it on the floor and turn the whole room into an instrument - the possibilities are endless (see also John Cage's groundbreaking piece Imaginary Landscapes, in which he even mics a cactus - amongst many other legendary users of contact mics).
This is the listing for ordering a custom-made one of several of these contact mic gizmos that I've been making. It will take about a week to build after you order, then it will ship. Each one is unique and different, made from different salvaged materials. The photos show some examples that have previously been built and sold, but do not exactly represent the item you'll get. You can request general shapes/sizes of the case (like "altoids tin sized" or "round tea tin", but i can't guarantee I have any specific one. Please DM with questions and make sure you understand what you'll be getting and I understand what you're expecting.
