Killer pair of Aphex Dominator II's.

More or less an Aphex Dominator 722 adapted for the dbx900 / Aphex 9000 modular system.

A bit of a sleeper piece of gear, the Aphex Dominator has a lot of fans outside of the broadcast world (which is where you'd mostly see them in use). They're an absolute smackwall 3-band limiter with adjustable LMF and HMF crossover points. Any stray decibel that tries to creep past the threshold will be clamped down on like a stray cat at a bird feeder.

This isn't some gentle 2:1 soft tube-like affair. You know those comps that the chin-scratcher engineers love to fawn over? Yeah, no. While you can certainly get away with transparency if you keep it inside the guardrails, they sound even cooler when you hit them with a meat hammer.

Run 'em as a parallel bus on your drums or stereo mix with the meters lit up like a Christmas tree. They're also fantastic on vocals if you want that super-up-front "in your ear" kind of sound.

There's supposed to be some way to stereo link these things. I never bothered - I just eyeballed the GR meter. I'm lazy like that.

Couple of things:

- NO these are not 500 series compatible. You will likely need a 900 series rack. I have a DBX 900A with some hastily home-made shovel connector→db25 cables (under 2 ft) that I would sell for an addl. hundred that has more than enough juice.

- WHILE these are 900-series compatible, Aphex made their own rack - the 9000 series. The difference is the amount of power it puts to the +/- 16v and +/- 24v rails. You can get away with maybe three Aphex units in a DBX rack before the PS starts to sag.

Hate to part with my 900 series stuff (check my other listings!), but I'm short on space and long on options right now, need to cull the herd.

These are guaranteed against DOA but that's as far as returns go with me. Don't blame me, blame the Reverb users who return stuff after trying it out who've ruined it for the rest of us.
